We strongly recommend that you protect your main domain by setting up a second one specifically for email marketing.

This is now considered best practice, Why?

Reputational damage to your main domain caused by a spam report can have a negative impact on search engine results and regular emails finding their way into junk.

Managing the underlying domain DNS records to authenticate your emails is increasingly important to get your communications to land in the recipient’s inbox and are probably better managed by a third party.
